La Tierra Co-op roasts in small batches to give all of our roasts a specific taste. This gives you the perfect quality and consistency in every cup of coffee.
The custom roast gives us better control of the temperature used for each of our coffees and gives the time needed for the aromas to come out, contrary to commercial roasting.

Water process Décaf
La Tierra Co-op is proud to offer Café Décaf, a water preocessed decaf, wich originates in the state of Chiapas, in the south of Mexico. It is cultivated by Mut Vitz, a Mayan indigenous co-op that is striving to develop a sustainable and democratic model that makes them part of a more equitable trade.
Producers of this coffee are part of the Zapatiste movement, which promotes local autonomy, equality for indigenous women, and a profound grasroots democracy in the economic and political spheres.
Café Décaf is certified organic by MayaCert and Fair Trade by FLO.

Café Atitlán, Guatemala

Sololá, Guatemala - Dark Roast
La Tierra Co-op is proud to offer Café Atitlán, Guatemala a specialty coffee grown on the slopes of a volcano, at very high altitudes of 1700 meters. The taste is very complex, with various fruity notes, medium body and medium acidity.
Café Atitlán, Guatemala comes from the indigenous producers of CCDA (Comité Campesino del Altiplano), in the Mayan Highlands of Guatemala. This coffee is certified “Organic” with MayaCert and certified “Fair Trade” by the FLO. The importer, BC CASA, pays far above Fair Trade/Organic standards for the green beans. Started in 1982, this coop has achieved important changes in their members’ communities, providing support with agriculture land, credit, scholarships and various trainings.

Café Chiapas, Mexico

Chiapas, México - Medium Roast
This coffee is particularly aromatic and flavourful in a medium roast. It is cultivated in the mountains of Chalchihuitán, Chenalhó and Pantelhó, in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, by three indigenous coops.
The Cooperativa Indigena Tzotzil de Chalchihuitán, founded in 2003, exported coffee for the first time in 2005, and is striving to develop a sustainable and democratic model that makes them part of a more equitable trade.
Maya Vinic, founded in 1999, first exported coffee in 2001 and is certified "Fair Trade" by FLO and "Organic" by Certimex. They are now using their expertise and succeess to help other producers organize.
Yachil and Mut Vitz, based in Oventic, are coops that are part of the Zapatista movement, which promotes local autonomy, equality for indigenous women, and a profound grassroots democracy in the economic and political spheres. They are certified "Organic" by Certimex.

Persatuan Petani, Kopi Gayo Organik (Gayo Organic Coffee Farmers Association), or PPKGO, ia 400-member farmers cooperative working in 24 communities of the Gayo Highlands of Sumatra. PPKGO now produces 1500 tons of coffee and is a certified organic coffee co-op.

La Tierra Co-op is proud to offer Café Yungas, which originates in the mountains of Los Yungas area in Bolivia. Cultivate at an altitude of 1700 meters, this arabica coffee is handpicked and sun dried. It is certified ‘organic’ by Biolatina.
Fecafeb unites 8700 Aymara indigenous small growers, part of 30 co-ops. Within the last few years, the high quality of their coffee has quickly put the Yungas region on the map for coffee lovers.
Roasted dark, this coffee is spicy, with hints of chocolate & nuts and is well balanced. Distinct!

Café Kivu, Rwanda

A unique new taste to discover! Misozi means "mountain" and originates in a volcanic area in Rwanda, at an altitude of 1500 meters. Of an Arabica Bourbon variety, Café Kivu, Rwanda is rich and full flavored, with a spicy note and good acidity.
The COOPAC organization is in full expansion. Founded in 2001 with 110 members, they are 2198 in 2008, and are exporting more than 12 tones of Fair Trade coffee beans a year, which has permitted them the acquisition of a washing station built in Nyamwenda.

Café Cauca, Colombia

This coffee comes from Fondo Paez a group of 550 Nasa indigenous producers from the southern mountains of Colombia. The Paez community is affirming for their land and their right to self determination and strives to recuperate traditional agricultural knowledge and indigenous culture which had been buried by centuries of conflict and oppression.
Café Cauca, Colombia is exceptionally smooth, full body and flavorful in a meduim-dark roast.
