| La Tierra Co-op in Gatineau (Québec) and Ottawa (Ontario) roasts and distributes coffee from our partner indigenous peasant cooperatives in the South. We assist them in developing and growing their coops under a 100% fair trade model only paying above fair trade prices for all of our coffee. We believe in being fair all the time!
Having a stable market and working under the fair trade and organic framework has an important impact in the producers’ lives. It has encouraged them to remain in their community and not leave in search of work. Instead, they organize, participate and influence what happens in their native lands.
Coffee is best grown in natural, biodiverse surroundings, at high altitudes, under the shade of taller trees. This way, the coffee beans grow slowly, producing maximum of flavour. Roasting is done here in small batches, and the coffee is best appreciated only a few days after roasting.
Our bird-logo, taken from a indigenous Bolivian embroidery, reflects our commitment to the protection of the Earth and the organic practices that are our philosophy.
We take care in roasting and distributing this coffee, while making sure the entire commercial chain, from the lands of production to your fist cup of coffee, is carried out with the highest integrity and respect for people and the environment.
